He faces “between five and 99 years in prison.”

Rapper Tay-K has been found guilty of murder following a 2016 home invasion that left a 21-year-old man dead.

The 19-year-old rapper, who is known for his viral hit ‘The Race’, was found guilty of murder and robbery by a jury earlier today (July 19), according to an NBC Dallas-Fort Worth affiliate.

At the start of the trial, Tay-K, whose real name is Taymor Travon McIntyre, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery by threats, but pleaded not guilty to capital murder and to a separate count of aggravated robbery. He was acccused of participating in an unsuccessful home invasion robbery in July 2016 that left 21-year-old Ethan Walker dead.

According to NBC‘s report, he was not found guilty of capital murder, “which would have carried a mandatory 40-year sentence.” He now faces “between five and 99 years in prison.”

It is reported that Tay-K, who was 16 at the time, entered Ethan Walker’s Mansfield, Texas, home with six others individuals. A second man, Zachary Beloate, was shot during the home invasion but survived. Latharian Merritt, the man accused of shooting Walker, was sentenced to life in prison last year. Sean Robinson, who was accused of shooting Beloate, pled guilty to murder in November last year and was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Tay-K’s lawyers argued that the rapper “only participated in the robbery, was not armed, and had no idea that people would be shot,” according to the Star Telegram.

Tay-K was apprehended after the robbery, placed on house arrest, and ordered to wear an ankle monitor.

On March 26, 2017, he tweeted: “fuck dis house arrest shit fuck 12 they gn hav 2 catch me on hood.” A few months later, on June 30, he released the music video for ‘The Race’, which he recorded while avoiding the authorities. The United States Marshals Service apprehended Tay-K that night in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Tay-K is facing a second capital murder charge in Bexar County, Texas, where officials allege that, while he was on the run, the rapper shot and killed a 23-year-old photographer named Mark Anthony Saldivar.

He is also facing a lawsuit from Owney “Skip” Pepe and his wife Barbara, who claim that Tay-K robbed and assaulted Skip on May 25, 2017 while the 65-year-old man was walking in Arlington’s Cravens Park. The suit reportedly states, “McIntyre then savagely beat the defenseless 65-year-old, leaving him unconscious with multiple broken bones and [a] brain bleed,” and that “McIntyre dragged Mr. Pepe’s body off the trail and left him for dead in the woods.”

US President Donald Trump has disclosed that he is trying to help free rapper A$AP Rocky, who has been held in police custody in Sweden for weeks, following persuasions from his first lady, Melania and celebrities including Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West.

The President made this known is a post he shared on his Instagram page on Friday.

Rocky, a platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated artist whose real name is Rakim Mayers, has been behind bars since early this month as Swedish police investigate a fight he was allegedly involved in Stockholm before appearing at a music festival.

It was not clear who else was involved, but videos published on social media appear to show a person being violently thrown onto the ground by Rocky. A defense lawyer has said it was self-defense.

The case has earned the attention of a slew of celebrities, including recording artist and producer Sean “Diddy” Combs; singer Justin Bieber; singer Shawn Mendes; actress Jada Pinkett Smith; Kardashian West’s mother, reality star Kris Jenner; singer Nicki Minaj; and rapper Post Malone, as well as Kardashian West, who has worked with the Trump administration on criminal justice reform issues.

Rep. Adriano Espaillat, D-N.Y., has also been pushing for the rapper’s release and has been in contact with the State Department and the U.S. Embassy in Sweden.

Kim Kardashian West also confirmed that she and Kanye West lobbied President Donald Trump in an effort to free A$AP Rocky, who is being held in Sweden for two weeks.

Kardashian West thanked Trump, Pompeo and Kushner via Twitter, along with “everyone involved with the efforts to Free ASAP Rocky & his two friends.”

“Your commitment to justice reform is so appreciated,” she wrote Thursday.

Rocky’s lawyer, Slobodan Jovicic, told The Associated Press that his client was aware of the president’s comments and “is very thankful for everyone who has reached out to show their support.”

“It means a lot to him, but we are focused on the case that we have in front of us,” he added.

Trump did not mention Kardashian West or Kushner to reporters in the Oval Office on Friday and said it was his wife who had originally brought the case to his attention.

“She was telling me about, ‘Can you help A$AP Rocky?’” said Trump, who said he’d also heard from others.

“Many, many members of the African American community have called me, friends of mine, and said, ‘Could you help?’ So I personally don’t know A$AP Rocky, but I can tell you that he has tremendous support from the African American community in this country,” he said.

“We’ll be talking to them,” Trump said, referring to Swedish officials. “We’ve already started.”

“We’re working with the State Department, and we hope to get him home soon,” added first lady Melania Trump.

Ohio pastor Darrell Scott, a black longtime Trump supporter who has worked with the administration on urban justice issues, said he was among those who raised the issue with Trump last Friday night after Rocky’s management reached out for assistance.

“We know that this is a high priority for the president and the State Department, at the instruction of the president,” said Kareem Lanier, co-chair of the Urban Revitalization Coalition who credited the White House with ensuring Rocky A$AP was moved to better holding conditions.

Both Lanier and Scott rejected the idea that Trump was calling attention to the issue to distract from criticism of his attacks against four Democratic congresswomen of color, noting the administration had been working on the issue before the latest brouhaha.

They applauded Trump for shining attention on the issue.

“Any time President Trump gets involved in anything, it brings a level of attention” to an issue that cannot be matched by those who “don’t have that cache or reach,” Lanier said.

Stockholm’s District Court decided Friday that Rocky would remain in custody another week to allow police to complete their investigation. They have until July 25.

Jovicic, Rocky’s attorney, said he felt the decision was “unjust,” but remains confident in his case.

Pastor Felix Ajide of King Jesus Praiseland Assembly says that the ongoing Big Brother Naija season (4) show promotes immorality and is not good for the society.

Ajide told News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Abuja that the show was pornographic in nature, adding that it has no moral value and advocated for its ban.

He said that the resources used in promoting the show should be used for the development of the society.

“The show should be banned because there is nothing to learn from the show, we are only watching immorality.

“If the western world is doing it, we do not need it here in Nigeria; we need deliverance in this country,” he added.

On the contrary, a Muslim woman, who pleaded anonymity, said it was not necessary for the show to be banned.

“Why should it be banned, it is optional for you to watch or better still unsubscribe that particular channel, if it is offensive to you.

“Most of the things people are complaining about such as the bathroom section are no more aired.

“It has also created opportunities to showcase our culture as well as give room for people to sell their products and give added value to their products,” she said.

The Muslim Rights Concern has labeled the reality show as ‘immoral, dangerous and bohemian’ and also wondered why the Ministry of Information and Culture is doing nothing over the show.

She however maintained that the show had given room for employment, like the cleaners that keep the place clean and the hair makers among others.

She said that the show was an avenue to improve Nigerian economy such as in data buying.

She also described the show as a means where the house mates showcase what they are made of as well as a means of identifying their potentials.

She therefore advised the organisers of the show to ensure that housemates do not expose their nudity so as not to be seen as a pornographic show.

Also speaking, Chinonye Anokam, a civil servant, described the show as an avenue where Nigerian youth discover their hidden talents and realise their dreams.

Anokam said that the show was entertaining and described it as a place where potentials are harnessed as well as an avenue for promoting unity among Nigerians.

“Outside the social aspect of the show, there are other things to learn from the show such as how to live with people with different upbringing among others.

“You might not know the talent you have but the show presents the avenue where people discover their talents,” she said.

Anokam, therefore, suggested that the organisers of the show should have restrictions in the house in terms of relationship between the opposite sexes.

She, however, suggested that participants should focus on the core objectives of the big brother show.

Mr Mustapha Suleiman, a businessman, said that the show was unethical and supported the called for it ban.

He emphasised that there was nothing moral to learn from the show, adding that some participants on the show are living fake life.

Everton are interested in signing the Brazilian midfielder Reinier this summer.

The 17-year-old is very highly rated by Flamengo and the Toffees are looking to bring him in.

According to a report from Globoesporte, the Premier League club’s representatives have already met with the Brazilian club’s directors Marcos Braz and Bruno Spindel.

The two directors have travelled to England for talks.

The report claims that Everton are prepared to submit a €40m (£35m) offer for the player.

Reinier is highly rated in Brazil and he is tipped to be the next big thing out of South America. It seems that the Merseyside outfit are looking to sign him up before the top clubs start to take notice of him.

It will be interesting to see if the Premier League club manage to get the deal over the line.

Reinier is likely to join up with Everton’s youth side if the transfer goes through. He is not ready to make his mark on the first team just yet.

Ever since Marcel Brands has come in, Everton have tried to sign talented young players and Reinier fits that profile. Their interest in the Brazilian is certainly understandable.

Nas has today (July 19) released his new album ‘The Lost Tapes 2’, and it’s now available to stream.

The album comprises of 16 unreleased tracks, taken from the recording sessions for the New York rapper’s last four studio albums.

‘The Lost Tapes 2’ features collaborations with Kanye West, Pharrell, RZA and more.

The rapper released the first ‘Lost Tapes’ album back in 2002, which featured unreleased tracks from sessions for 1999’s ‘I Am…’ and 2001’s ‘Stillmatic’.

The second instalment in the series features work from the sessions for 2006’s ‘Hip Hop Is Dead, ‘Untitled’ from 2008, 2012’s ‘Life Is Good’ and last year’s ‘Nasir’.

‘Nasir’ was released as part of Kanye West’s series of ‘Wyoming albums’, which also featured his own new record ‘ye’, Pusha T‘s ‘Daytona’,  Teyana Taylor‘s ‘KTSE’ and Kanye’s collaborative album with Kid Cudi under the name Kids See Ghosts.

In a three-star review of ‘Nasir’, NME said: “Despite its brevity, there is a lot to unravel amidst its densely packed political messages. The succinctness of the songs actually suits Nas – previously, the punch of his political messages has often been lost in songs lasting too long. Here, the directness intensifies them.”

Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu has this evening been spotted in Germany, ahead of a potential loan switch to Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.

Chelsea prodigy

Ampadu, an 18-year-old central-defender who can also play in a defensive midfield role, came up through the youth ranks of Exeter City, before making the move to Chelsea in 2017.

And the young stopper has since gone on to establish himself as one of the most highly-regarded starlets on the books of the Blues.

Despite his tender years, Ampadu emerged as a regular member of Chelsea’s first-team squad last season, going on to notch a none-too-shabby 8 appearances across all competitions.

In addition, the gifted teen has already racked up 8 caps for Wales.

‘In the interest of Ethan and Chelsea’

With the likes of David Luiz, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen all ahead of him in the central-defensive pecking order at Stamford Bridge, however, the path to a starting berth week-in, week-out, looks a tough one to navigate for Ampadu at present.

As such, when the Welshman was omitted from Chelsea’s pre-season squad that flew to Japan earlier this week, Blues’ boss Frank Lampard was quickly questioned on his plans for Ampadu for the coming season.

And Lampard went on to admit that the club intend to loan the prodigious teen out:

‘We are looking at the possibility of Ethan going on loan for the season.’

‘I tried to sign Ethan on loan at Derby last year so I’m a big fan, but with the minutes he played last year, in the interest of Ethan and of Chelsea, the idea he can play a lot of games somewhere could be good for him. That’s not done yet, but we haven’t brought him here while that’s up in the air.’

‘I really wanted to work with Ethan this year. That’s a slight disappointment, but it’s to benefit him. In midfield and defence we have a lot of quality, so each player is a case by case.’

Leipzig bound?

Aston Villa were previously viewed as the front-runners to clinch Ampadu’s signature on a temporary basis, but, as per the aforementioned updates spreading across social media this evening, the versatile Chelsea man could in fact be set for a surprise move to the Bundesliga.

This comes after Ampadu was photographed in the city of Leipzig.

This has since led to inevitable speculation that the youngster will spend the 2019/20 campaign with RB Leipzig.

Update: As per a report from Sky Sports News, Ampadu now looks all set for the Red Bull Arena:

Beyoncé dropped her new Lion King-inspired album The Gift on July 19, and as expected, it’s amazing. Standout songs such as “SPIRIT” and “BIGGER” are like cocoa butter for the soul — smooth, soft, healing — but one track has especially been receiving a lot of buzz from the Beyhive: “Brown Skin Girl.” The song, which features Bey’s daughter Blue Ivy, is a love letter to black girls and black women everywhere, telling us that our natural selves are beautiful and worthy of being exalted.

After listening to the song for the first time, I knew that I loved it — the vocals, the flow, the lyrics, everything. The second time around, I still bobbed my head to the beat with the usual thoughts of how talented Bey is, but I sort of felt something within me begin to stir. By the third listen, tears were streaming down my face as the song’s message reallyset in.

I was suddenly taken back to my childhood, when my mom made me wear my natural hair to school, but I was too embarrassed to be proud of it. I was taken back to wishing my curly locks and gravity-defying frodidn’t make me stick out like a sore thumb in a classroom full of long, straight hair. I was taken back to thinking that maybe if my skin was lighter, I’d be prettier.

My parents always told my sisters and me to be proud of who we are, but it was much easier said than done when we were constantly bombarded with media that glorified a specific type of beauty over another. Although my mom didn’t allow magazines with nonblack women on the cover in our house, I always noticed that those were the ones placed front and center at grocery stores. In popular movies and TV shows, most of the desired women were fair-skinned with Eurocentric features. No matter how hard my parents tried to protect me from the toxicity of normalized white supremacy, there were traces of it everywhere, planting seeds of insufficiency in my mind.

After repeatedly listening to “Brown Skin Girl” and having my own little crying session, I was excited to head into work and ask some of my fellow melanin-infused colleagues if they had the same visceral response to the song. And, well, they most certainly did.

“I started getting a little emotional on my second listen, not just because of how much it means to me right now, but because I wish something like it existed when I was Blue’s age,” Content Director Britt Stephenssaid. “Being brought up in mostly white spaces and ingesting mostly white media can make black girls feel less than at such an early age, and 7-year-old me absolutely would have stanned a song like ‘Brown Skin Girl.'”

Assistant editor Mekishana Pierre echoed the same sentiment of appreciation for the song’s celebration of black girls. “It’s a message reminding us that regardless of what anyone else says or thinks, we are blessings,” she said. “We are beautiful; we are made of the sun and the earth and our skin is ‘just like pearls.’ By making this song, Beyoncé tells everyone that black women are untouchable. In a world where people try to make brown skin something ugly, it reminds us what the truth is: we are the realest magic there ever was!”

The Afrocentric bop’s outpouring of acceptance and validation is something social media coordinator Rachael Edwards also enjoyed. “I feel seen,” she said. “We often hear these songs with the general ‘you’re beautiful’ message, but ‘Brown Skin Girl’ is a direct love song to us. Beyoncé’s affirming anthem makes me feel detached from all the insecurities that racism and misogynoir tend to bring. It feels like I’m singing love over myself and young Black and Brown women. There is so much power behind that alone. I’ll be singing this forever, I’m sure of it!”

This is why “Brown Skin Girl” is unequivocally important for women of color to hear. I, too, wish my younger self could have listened to the song during those moments in which I felt inferior simply because of the way I naturally look. I appreciated the love and support from my parents greatly — and it certainly helped to have their reassurance — but there’s something especially significant about being uplifted by someone with a broad, influential platform; someone who can help to reconstruct the perceptions of blackness by showing that it deserves to be valued and respected, because it’s a part of who we are as human beings.

More than anything, I hope that other young black girls won’t have to go through what I went through to the same degree. I hope they hear “Brown Skin Girl” and unapologetically adore themselves for who they are inside and out. Because while there are complexities in our complexion, our skin glows like diamonds.

A former Super Eagles and Olympic Eagles Coach, Samson Siasia on Friday begged the kidnappers of his 80-year-old mother, Madam Beauty Ogere to release her unconditionally.

Ogere, 66-year-old, one Florence Donana and her 17-year-old daughter were abducted on July 15 at their apartments in their Odoni community, Sagbama Local Government Area, by unknown gunmen.

The kidnappers reportedly established contact with Siasia’s family and demanded N70m to release their victim.

As per a report from German outlet Bild, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have emerged as contenders in the race to sign Real Betis star man Giovani Lo Celso.

Short-lived PSG stint

Argentine attacking midfielder Lo Celso made the move to Europe in the summer of 2016, when he joined French powerhouse PSG from Rosario Central.

After struggling for game-time during his debut campaign at the Parc des Princes, Lo Celso went on to enjoy a largely-impressive season in 2017/18, when he managed 33 appearances in Ligue 1, 18 of which came as starts.

However, despite having been short on options in midfield, PSG allowed the gifted South American to depart the French capital last summer, with Lo Celso having joined La Liga outfit Real Betis on loan with option to buy.

Betis standout

And the 23-year-old has since gone on to showcase exactly why he was so highly-regarded in his home country of Argentina during the early years of his career.

Lo Celso took his performances to another level altogether at the Benito Villamarín Stadium this past season.

Across all competitions, the Rosario youth product racked up 16 goals and 5 assists, proving an absolutely integral member of now-former Betis boss Quique Setién’s squad.

Spurs bound?

And Lo Celso’s stellar form has certainly not gone unnoticed across Europe.

Premier League giants Tottenham, Manchester United and Manchester City have all been named as keen admirers of the midfielder’s talents this summer.

Spurs, though, have been by far the most persistently-linked.

The reliable Gianluca Di Marzio last month even went as far as to suggest that the north Londoners had tabled a massive 70 million Euro bid for Lo Celso:

Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo, meanwhile, went a step further two weeks ago, in claiming that an agreement between Spurs and Betis was ‘80% complete’.

Bayern enter race

As per the aforementioned update courtesy of SportBild this evening, though, a fresh contender has emerged to rival Tottenham in the race for Lo Celso’s signature.

The outfit in question are German giants Bayern Munich.

As per Bild’s report, the Bundesliga champions are currently engaged in negotiations with Betis.

It remains unclear, however, just how serious Bayern’s interest actually is:
