He faces “between five and 99 years in prison.”
Rapper Tay-K has been found guilty of murder following a 2016 home invasion that left a 21-year-old man dead.
The 19-year-old rapper, who is known for his viral hit ‘The Race’, was found guilty of murder and robbery by a jury earlier today (July 19), according to an NBC Dallas-Fort Worth affiliate.
At the start of the trial, Tay-K, whose real name is Taymor Travon McIntyre, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery by threats, but pleaded not guilty to capital murder and to a separate count of aggravated robbery. He was acccused of participating in an unsuccessful home invasion robbery in July 2016 that left 21-year-old Ethan Walker dead.
According to NBC‘s report, he was not found guilty of capital murder, “which would have carried a mandatory 40-year sentence.” He now faces “between five and 99 years in prison.”
It is reported that Tay-K, who was 16 at the time, entered Ethan Walker’s Mansfield, Texas, home with six others individuals. A second man, Zachary Beloate, was shot during the home invasion but survived. Latharian Merritt, the man accused of shooting Walker, was sentenced to life in prison last year. Sean Robinson, who was accused of shooting Beloate, pled guilty to murder in November last year and was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
Tay-K’s lawyers argued that the rapper “only participated in the robbery, was not armed, and had no idea that people would be shot,” according to the Star Telegram.
Tay-K was apprehended after the robbery, placed on house arrest, and ordered to wear an ankle monitor.
On March 26, 2017, he tweeted: “fuck dis house arrest shit fuck 12 they gn hav 2 catch me on hood.” A few months later, on June 30, he released the music video for ‘The Race’, which he recorded while avoiding the authorities. The United States Marshals Service apprehended Tay-K that night in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Tay-K is facing a second capital murder charge in Bexar County, Texas, where officials allege that, while he was on the run, the rapper shot and killed a 23-year-old photographer named Mark Anthony Saldivar.
He is also facing a lawsuit from Owney “Skip” Pepe and his wife Barbara, who claim that Tay-K robbed and assaulted Skip on May 25, 2017 while the 65-year-old man was walking in Arlington’s Cravens Park. The suit reportedly states, “McIntyre then savagely beat the defenseless 65-year-old, leaving him unconscious with multiple broken bones and [a] brain bleed,” and that “McIntyre dragged Mr. Pepe’s body off the trail and left him for dead in the woods.”
The rumors were true — duh! After not-so-subtly hinting at a collaboration earlier this week, Justin Bieber and his true No. 1 fan, Billie Eilish, have come through with their first (and hopefully not last) musical alliance.
On Thursday (July 11), Eilish surprise-released a new version of her viral hit “bad guy” that features a heavily Autotuned new verse from JB. “Yeah, I’m a bad guy / Ain’t no holdin’ back guy / Come off like a mad guy / Always got your back guy,” he sings, after a few bars dedicated to flaunting his “icy” wealth. The rest of the song remains mostly untouched, though Bieber does contribute some scattered ad-libs throughout.
The best part of this star-powered collab, though, is the photo that accompanies the release: it’s a throwback pic of Billie wearing a shockingly sparkly dance costume, in front of a wall plastered with Bieber posters. Take a better look at the pic below, which both pop stars posted on Instagram.
Interestingly, Eilish’s new star-powered remix could come just in time to block Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” from making history on the Billboardcharts. “bad guy” currently sits at the No. 2 spot on the Hot 100, and a buzzy Bieber assist could be the push Eilish needs to get it on top. Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’s behemoth hit, meanwhile, has logged its 14th week atop the chart, and is just two weeks away from tying the all-time record.
No matter what happens with the Bill-ieber team-up, though, consider this a win for both JB fans — who are hungry for new material from their fave — and Eilish herself, who’s clearly come so far since those days spent merely gazing at Justin on a wall. A true glow-up.
So, what’s the twist? Make Alfred young? Give him super-powers? What if he’s not actually the butler but instead the new Robin? It’s nothing thatcrazy, although some may disagree. He has in fact suggested The Batman‘s Alfred be played by a woman. Not just any woman, however, an English actress with a long resume and a lot of acclaim earned from audiences through her various roles over the years. So, who is Conway’s suggestion?
That’s right, the iconic theater, television, film actress and Dame Maggie Smith. Some know her as Professor McGonagall from the Harry Potterfilm franchise, others may remember her from movies like Hook, The Secret Garden or Sister Act. She’s also Violet Crawley in the wonderful former series Downton Abbey (which is also getting a movie), and is most always a wonderful addition to any cast she joins. Does this necessarily mean she’d be a great addition to The Batman though?
As folks may be well aware by now, there tends to be an uproar when an actor is cast that isn’t explicitly like the traditional version of the character. With that said, Maggie Smith is elderly, and English, which seems to be the major things people would most associate Alfred with. The other one would be a character who plays Bruce Wayne’s caretaker/butler/assistant throughout his life, and it also doesn’t seem like it would be that hard to imagine Maggie Smith in the role.
Alfred’s past is typically that he was an actor who became a servant of the Wanye family at the behest of his father. Other stories have made him an intelligence agent, or a man of military experience, but the acting bit has been at the heart of the character from the start. Again, there’s not a lot there that really would vastly compromise the character if Maggie Smith were in the role, especially considering how little Alfred is followed in Batman films.
With all that being said, there hasn’t been a comics iteration in which Batman’s famous butler was actually a housekeeper, or portrayed as a female. This may be why some would argue precedent should mean a man gets the role, even if there are those who support Gerry Conway’s idea. In any case, Conway isn’t some major decision maker in The Batman‘s development, so it’s just one prominent comic book voice’s opinion, but definitely food for thought.
Should Alfred Pennyworth be played by a woman in The Batman? Sound off in our poll and leave any additional commentary in the comments below, and be sure to stick with CinemaBlend for more on The Batman and other movie and television news.
Should Alfred Pennyworth Be Played By A Woman In The Batman?
Taylor Swift is holding nothing back in her disdain for “manipulative” Scooter Braunupon learning that the manager has acquired her musical catalog in a $300 million sale.
Swift, 29, slammed Braun, who manages stars Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber, after his Ithaca Holdings acquired Big Machine Label Group from founder Scott Borchetta, who worked with Swift from 2006 until she left Big Machine for Universal Music Group late last year.
The “You Need to Calm Down” singer wrote in a Tumblr post that she had tried for years to own her own music from Big Machine, and was told that she could only do so if she signed a new contract that gave her ownership of one of her old albums for every new one she completed.
“I walked away because I knew once I signed that contract, Scott Borchetta would sell the label, thereby selling me and my future,” she wrote. “I had to make the excruciating choice to leave behind my past. Music I wrote on my bedroom floor and videos I dreamed up and paid for from the money I earned playing in bars, then clubs, then arenas, then stadiums.”
Swift said learning that it was Braun who had ultimately purchased her masters from Borchetta was her “worst nightmare.”
“All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years,” she wrote. “Like when Kim Kardashian orchestrated an illegally recorded snippet of a phone call to be leaked and then Scooter got his two clients together to bully me online about it.”
For reference, Swift included a screenshot of an August 2016 Instagram post shared by Justin Bieber.

The post featured Bieber on a Facetime call with Braun and Kanye West, who was a longtime client of Braun’s, with the caption, “Taylor swift what up.”
Atop the photo, Swift circled Braun’s face in red and wrote, “This is Scooter Braun, bullying me on social media when I was at my lowest point. He’s about to own all the music I’ve ever made.”
Swift continued in her letter, calling out West’s “Famous” music video, which she referred to as “revenge porn” that “strips my body naked,” as it features a nude mannequin reminiscent of Swift.

“Now Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy. Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it,” she wrote. “This is my worst case scenario. This is what happens when you sign a deal at 15 to someone for whom the term ‘loyalty’ is clearly just a contractual concept. And when that man says ‘Music has value,’ he means its value is beholden to men who had no part in creating it.”

The Grammy-winning singer also expressed disappointment in Borchetta for selling to Braun, as she explained he was well aware of the pain the executive had brought her.
“When I left my masters in Scott’s hands, I made peace with the fact that eventually he would sell them. Never in my worst nightmares did I imagine the buyer would be Scooter,” she wrote. “Any time Scott Borchetta has heard the words ‘Scooter Braun’ escape my lips, it was when I was either crying or trying not to. He knew what he was doing; they both did. Controlling a woman who didn’t want to be associated with them. In perpetuity. That means forever.”
Swift concluded her note with a grateful shoutout to her current label for allowing her the opportunity to own any new music she creates, and with a reminder that her new album Lover hits shelves Aug. 23. She also signed off, “Sad and grossed out, Taylor,” with a broken heart emoji.
The pop star’s references to Braun, Kardashian and West come in regards to the lyric, “I made that bitch famous,” in West’s track “Famous.”
Swift said publicly that the rapper never ran the words by her, and five months later, Kardashian branded Swift a “snake” and posted videos on her Snapchat of a private phone call between Swift and West, claiming the singer had approved the lyrics.
The musicians were never heard discussing the specific lyric in the phone call, however, and Swift hit back at Kardashian on Instagram, doubling down on her claim that West had never told he was going to refer to her as “that bitch” in the song.
“You don’t get to control someone’s emotional response to being called ‘that bitch’ in front of the entire world,” Swift wrote. “He promised to play the song for me, but he never did.”
Despite the fact that no phone call in which Swift and West could be heard discussing that specific lyric was ever released, Swift went on to receive backlash from fans who doubted her claims and called her a liar.
Billboard reports that Braun, 38, paid more than $300 million to acquire Big Machine Label Group.
“The idea of Scott and I working together is nothing new, we’ve been talking about it since the beginning of our friendship,” Braun said in a statement to the outlet. “I reached out to him when I saw an opportunity and, after many conversations, realized our visions were aligned. He’s built a brilliant company full of iconic songs and artists. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that? By joining together, we will create more opportunities for artists than ever before, by giving them the support and tools to go after whatever dreams they wish to pursue.”
In a statement of his own, Borchetta praised Braun as having had the same “big vision brings big results” mantra since their first meeting in 2010.
Reps for Braun and Big Machine Label Group did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Ronson’s new record, ‘Late Night Feelings’, is released this week.
Mark Ronson has released ‘Pieces of Us’, the latest single from his forthcoming record ‘Late Night Feelings’.
The collaboration with King Princess features on the super-producer’s fifth record, which drops this Friday (June 21), and is a twinkling throwback to ’80s pop ballads.
Joining the Grammy award-winning musician and producer on the new latest record are Alicia Keys, Angel Olsen, Lykke Li, and more.
The first single shared from the album was Ronson’s 2018 collaboration with Miley Cyrus, ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’. More recently, he shared ‘Find U Again’ (feat. Camila Cabello), which was co-written by Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker.
In an interview with NME last November, Ronson explained why he was releasing a new solo record despite having several other projects to focus on.

“I think that, basically, I was working on it for a couple of years. As soon as ‘Uptown Special’ began to die down and we were done touring. [In 2017], while I was working on some stuff with Silk City and working on some stuff with Kevin from Tame Impala, I was floundering a bit. I was going through some shit in my personal life, and I was just a little messy and un-anchored. I was just throwing a lot of shit at the wall – I was starting to get a little removed from the music.
“I think I was probably trying to make some fun shit and some club shit, but the only thing that came out of my fingers when I’d sit at the keyboard was something that had a little more emotion in it.”
In a historic first, the 2019 winners of America’s three biggest beauty pageants are all black women.
Nia Franklin, 25, became Miss America in September, followed last week by Kaliegh Garris, 18, as Miss Teen USA and Cheslie Kryst, 28, as Miss USA.
The wins are particularly meaningful given the competitions’ decades-long history of racism and bias.
Vanessa Williams was the first black woman to win a top pageant in 1983.
After Ms Williams was crowned Miss America, it took until 1990 for another black woman to win a major pageant.
“Mine is the first generation to have that forward-looking mindset that has inclusivity, diversity, strength and empowered women,” Ms Kryst said in her acceptance speech on Thursday.
Ms Kryst is a civil litigation lawyer from North Carolina who also works pro-bono to reduce unfair sentences for prisoners. She will now represent the US in the Miss Universe pageant.
The reigning Miss America, Ms Franklin, is an opera singer who also works with the Sing for Hope charity to promote accessibility of the arts and social change.
Teen winner Ms Garris and Ms Kryst have both also been praised for opting to wear their natural hair in the pageants.
2020 presidential hopeful Senator Kamala Harris, whose father is Jamaican, shared her support on Instagram, saying: “What a tremendous moment for these young, successful women making their own path, on their own terms.”
Miss America, the oldest of the top three pageants, was created in 1921. Miss USA began in 1950 and Miss Teen USA in 1983.
Until the 1940s, Miss America barred women not of “the white race” from participating. Despite later changes to the rules, a black woman did not participate in Miss America until 1970.
In 1968, black women held the first Miss Black America pageant to protest racist standards.
More recently, in the wake of the #MeToo movement, these pageants have continued to change, with many contestants pushing for diversity and women’s empowerment over beauty alone.
